USCIS Changes its Filing Process

When the word “immigration” pops up what comes to mind is moving to other country especially a first world type. It also brings about the issues regarding illegal means of acquiring citizenship. Because of the problems caused by illegal immigration the U.S. is now increasing its security and laws regarding immigration.

The USCIS or United States Citizenship and Immigration Services are going to improve its process of Naturalization and Citizenship or what is known as the N-forms. Starting this end of October the applicants can file their forms in areas that are secure. The forms will have to be submitted directly to Lockbox facilities that are appropriate for their application. There will be specific areas for the specific forms. For example those filing for N-336 Form or the “Request for Hearing on a Decision in Naturalization Proceedings and the N-600K or the “Application for Citizenship and Issuance of Certificate Under Section 322” are going to be submitted at the Phoenix Lockbox facility. The USCIS offices and individuals are not going to be receiving the applications anymore.

Since the new regulations for the application are still new, the applications that are submitted to the USCIS local offices and individuals will be forwarded to the right lockbox facility. This will only be for the applications received until December 2. But after December 2, the applications that are not submitted to the proper lockbox will be returned to the applicant together with the instructions on how to proceed with the new filing process.

The USCIS has already updated its website regarding the new process that applicants have to follow. The website now contains the needed information on how they can submit their N-Forms. Should there be an instance of an applicant not filing application with the right form, he will have to re-apply and pay the fee again. There will be no more fee refund for submission of wrong form. Therefore USCIS is encouraging its applicants to carefully read the instructions and guidelines to save time and money.
