Working in other countries is not always going to bring about good results. One recent case in Maryland has proved that to a thousand foreign teachers who were laid out of work. And it all started because of the violation of rules that the employers have done. So now there are foreign teachers trying to cope up and trying to put together a new start in finding a work in U.S.

The Prince George County has been recruiting foreign teachers under the temporary worker visa program. It has started hiring teachers in order to fill up the vacant spots for public schools. However there was a violation made since the workers are being underpaid. It is related to the No Child Left Behind Act of former President George W. Bush and the H-1B visa program. The H-1B program allows the US employer to hire foreign teachers as long as they work in the country temporarily and their work is for filling up the much needed specialty positions. Since it was mandated by the No Child Left Behind Act the district started hiring specialty teachers especially the ones that are hard to find like the teachers for subjects like Science, Special Education and Mathematics.

The district has violated the H-1B program by intentionally decreasing the wage of the workers. Originally the H-1B visa program is a temporary visa that can last for 3 years and can be renewed for the workers of employers who cannot find the special needs of skills and abilities. However the reduction of wages should not have been in the picture. This is the reason why the Labor Department has investigated the district. It was aiming to solve the reduced wages but because the schools were barred from hiring foreign teachers, the workers are put in a worse situation than the first one. And now a thousand educators are in the verge of letting go of their dream of better life and will either try hard to get job until their temporary visas last or go back to their own countries.
